The Change

He sits in a pew not feeling quite right,
for he has had some long sleepless nights.
Deep down inside he feels empty and void,
for this man doesn't know our Lord.

He has sat there in church for years on end,
fighting this voice that sounds like a friend.
This voice in his heart has been there a while,
saying "go quick man,run down that aisle,
fall on your knees and get on your face,
for this is the way to my heavenly place."

"I'll hold your hand all the way to the end,
and when this part is over,we'll be life long friends.
But if you continue to sit there and hide,
I offer no help, for my hands will be tied.

So stand to your feet and follow your heart,
for this is the way to your fresh start.
Out with the old man and in with the new,
our heavenly father is counting on you.

He longs to have your name in His book of life,
He longs to bless you and relieve all your strife."
So the man stands up not sure what to do,
all that he knows is he wants brand new.
He's tired of all these bricks on his back,
but Jesus is screaming "I'll carry your sack."

So he walks down the aisle towards a better place,
He doesn't even notice the tears on his face.
He falls to his knees humbled to pray,
so glad that Jesus has shown him the way.
