The Caged Bird Still Sings

Written By: D. Collins 7/7/25
I know the names of some of the greatest to ever dawn black skin.
Dr. Charles Drew, Miles Davis, Malcolm X, and James Baldwin.
Generations from now their achievements will be overlooked.
Due to coordinated efforts to remove them from history books.
There were the Buffalo Soldiers and Tuskegee Airmen.
Maya Angelou and descriptive writings of Toni Morrison.
We had Dr. Martin Luther King and Muhammad Ali.
Who gave hope to a population of people like me.
We've endured the longest deprivation mankind has faced.
You cannot remove something that refuses to be erased.
We've heard broken promises that never came about.
The Caged Bird Still Sings loudly from the top of the mount.

Hello Artsy Odyssey. Thank you for the slew of compliments. Nothing in this world is "minimal" as far as I'm concerned. I would certainly be interested in expanding truth through collaboration.

All bold. I guess you wanted to make a statement. Greatness is a relative term to be sure. Can a man be great when he's cheating on his wife? Can he be great when all he does is boast? Even Jesus refused to be addressed as Good, deferring all such praise to his Father. All glory belongs to God, not imperfect men, regardless of the color of their skin

Hello Tom. Thanks for your comment. Men were made in the image of God, to include the "imperfect" ones....There's no distinction.
