The Cabin in the woods

The air is crisp, the sky is gloomy with clouds overhead, fall has made its appearance finally. October has come in abundance, the cold wet leaves have fallen from their home of an old sturdy Oak tree standing watch over the red cabin surrounded by branches. The forest is alive with animals squirrels, deer, chipmunks all trying to find water in the free running brook .

A thunderstorm is brewing, as I seek shelter on the porch of my cabin, a wooden bench handmade by my grandpa has stood its time, it too has stories to tell, many moonlight nights, listening to rain, sunsets, sunrises, fireflies light up the evening skies. If this cabin could talk, it would tell of years of families gathering inside playing card games, the smell of the wooden stove warning us up on cold frigid nights.

These are the moments in which everyone should enjoy, no stress, no phones, just being together telling of family recipes generations of great grandpas in the services, working in the sawmill, farm stories. The smell of freshly baked bread, warm apple cider the aroma freshly brewed coffee waking up the tired souls.

This Cabin in the woods, just the title alone is enough to draw you in, life has so many blessings, too many to count. You don’t have to be retired to have these memories, just gather around your loved ones, take the time to reminisce, for tomorrow isn’t promised mixed to anyone, Give God your love, He’s always here..
