The Butcher of Canning Vale

(A True Story)

She was only seven, this little petite Asian girl
took a trip to Canning Vale,
on a shopping spree, as a surprise.
But this day there, lingered evil
working at the local grocery store,
saw the little girl, grab her unbelievable in a crowd
to the public convenience fled.
Her brother did search in this place
but to no avail,
called out in desperation her name,
a sound from the cubicle disguised
sent him away.
The Butcher snapped her arms and legs
like a new born twig upon a tree,
then had his way,
but analyst says
she was dead before the deed,
which when interviewed disappointed him,
this bastard.
She died an agonizing death
yet he still lives, at society’s expense,
because today we are taught to tolerate
while lawyers profit to the shame of the human race.
One can imagine the sheer fear
in those final seconds of this little girl,
at the hands of the likes of the
Canning Vale Butcher.
My tears on this page as I write
I hope God are not wasted, as those for this sick society are!!

Last week in Wales
April a little girl was abducted
as yet to be found five days on,
bringing back memories of the above
in Canning Vale, Perth, W.A, Australia.
a few hundred yards from where I lived
yet I did nothing to stop this,
my excuse of not knowing
does not abide well!!!!!!

Where do they come from these monsters and how can they hide in polite society until they strike? They should have big letter S blazing on their foreheads. Why do they make us all feel guilty and depraved that they have walked among us and we haven't known. Thank you Harry. for leading me to your words and for your praise of my poem. We are having to lock up our children wheile the garbage walks free. Love, Joyce

A touching poem you have here! This echo my heart cry (each time I hear or read of another senseless killing in my country, Nigeria). Yes, man is inherently evil-- as William Golding says in his novel Lord of the Flies. The world is becoming more and more dangerous for sane people.

You are a very versatile writer. I am amazed by how many forms you have tried and mastered. This was a master poem in itself. Incredibly moving write that almost brought a tear to my eye - it pulled the heartstrings for sure...and angered me. That means it was great. And by the look of the comments below, I have tah say, I am not the only one. ;) Always, Laura

oh my gosh, that is simply horrible how he snapped her arms and legs. So the bastard is just sitting in prison using up all the taxes of good people? It is beyond comprehension, Harry. I feel your anger!! You could do nothing. How could you ever have known? well, getting ready to leave the school soon. It was nice seeing you here. If there is time, i will be doing a blog first. maybe it will be one to prove useful to you too!

Harry, With each child abducted, murdered or vanished, hearts should bleed. We are hardened and immune by the overdose of bad news. Shame on us! It gives pause to the dissolution of the death penalty for heinous crimes--the idea being continued guilt is worse than death. But the sociopaths are without conscience--I think we should use them for scientific research. (ok...I am also vile and hate filled when I know these pigs watch tv & play video games for life)
