The Brown of Autumn

Give me the haunting brown of Autumn
with her branches reaching bare
Pointing to solemn skies
the air scented with the sourness of decay

Walk upon dead leaves
crush the crisp crackling of fragility
Feel the chill of faint winds
whispering warnings of coldness

Look upon golden fields
harvest the grains to feed the hunger
Soon earth deep in slumber
the sun yawns and fades in splendor

Tell me the old tall tales
morals of a lost time
Spoken by an old tongue
Taste the wisdom sip warm wine

The brown of Autumn
earth closing her eyes to rest
Life begins her dream
gentle rain kisses the sleeping earth
