the broken pieces of me

 
"Broken promises are etched in tears."

                                         Quote -etherandom  

every sweet spoken word was fake
           all lies told . . .  leaving broken promises lingering
        it was a cruel betrayal
     the cold truth to accept
         heartbreaking
oh, strength is a face I fake

          ~  did you ever love me . . . you said that you did,
I see your face, remember your warm lips, hear your whispering
words, fake lies, fake promises, fake words  ~ 

       I am not who I was
         the pieces of me are falling
I trusted you with my love
and the silence hurts so much
                   your shadow is lingering
         alone . . .  my tears fall

~  was I ever enough for you . . .  such cruelty
          I feel so stupid for trusting and now I am hiding
behind a mask and saying I am fine, I am okay  ~  

but every breath hurts it seems  
        oh, how many women have you done this too . . . 
           and if I really think about it . . .  you are a loser
      not worth MY tears
        not worth another thought
                I am happy to be rid of you

      ~  so, I am picking up the pieces of me . . . taking off this mask
. . .  and finding the strength
                  within me . . .  to let go of you
            and your broken promises
though a scar will forever remain  ~
