Notes About The Poem

Derelict Bay Shore Road Bridge -- Abandoned Bay Shore Bridge over the Escanaba River in Delta County, Michigan.  The bridge is a continuous concrete T-beam and was built in 1911.

The Bridge To Nowhere

The Bridge to Nowhere Halfway across the river it stands as heavy feet support remaining span. No longer the beautiful and sturdy gateway path for man to seek the other side. The bridge to nowhere makes last stand before it joins its shadow in deep waters. © Sandra M. Hi Sandra! This bridge to nowhere has served its purpose well, but, squeezed like a lemon, it has been discarded and replaced. Reminds me of how much some people work, but then are not given due merit. Your three lines can inspire a whole essay...the ending touching. Congrats on your fine and merited! // paul

Yes, Paul, it is a shame that so many wonderful architectural feats we created become abandoned in such sad states. Thank you for stopping by with your nice comment and congrats. I really appreciate it. Sandra

Hi Jan, thank you for your nice comment and best wishes for the contest. Yes, the fallen bridge is sad. There are so many man-made structures in this world that have met the same fate. Thank you again for your appreciated support. Hugs, Sandra
