The boy in the corner

The boy in the corner
Like a statue, quiet
Staring at people and faces
Reading peoples actions

The boy in the corner
Listening to hushed conversations
Playing with their fingers
Drawing with a finger on the floor

The boy in the corner
Quiet as a mouse
Being stared at by others
Saying nothing

The boy in the corner
The talk of everyone else
Every word a lie by people who share dna
They must feel good about themselves

The boy in the corner
Legs numb from being in one place
Not allowed to move or wriggle
A punishment for an unknown reason

The boy in the corner
Observes every reaction
Watches as nobody says a word
Praying someone would do the right thing

The boy in the corner
Is alone in a world full of people
Is cast aside without a second thought
He learns to appreciate the quiet in his mind

The boy in the corner
Is not allowed to scream or stand
He is not allowed to talk or cry
The boy wishes to be anywhere else

The boy in the corner believes this is love
No one has ever shown care towards him
He isn’t listened too
Told he is the problem

The boy in the corner
Is just a boy, failed by everyone
Alone in this big world
No one to love or defend him
