The Borrowed Toothbrush

The Borrowed Toothbrush By Elton Camp “Dad, to clean your teeth I hope you’re in no rush, Because I really need to borrow your toothbrush.” “Son, another’s toothbrush you must never, ever use. That’s totally filthy and something you must refuse.” “Oh, no, Dad, to use it on myself isn’t what I mean. I realize that would be gross and really bad unclean.” The father, at those words, heaved a relieved sigh, Knowing that such a thing his son wouldn’t try “But, son, why do you want my toothbrush then?” “Dad, I just need to clean the hamster cage again.”

Good morning Carol, Thanks for your always gracious comments. This little poem was just meant to be a fun take on a familiar joke. It's such a shame that we have a few with the nasty attitude shown in another post on this poem. But the world has a small percentage of people like that. Thanks for reading. Elton

I tried really hard to like this one. It wasn't bad but it left a lot to be desired. I read it a number of times and this is my opinion. You used an old joke from numerous sitcoms but you put your own twist on it and I'll give you credit for that. I read it one more time and the rhyme and rhythym are ok. But the spirit of the poem just didn't do it for me. I don't mean to offend. It's just my opinion. :-)

Hello Rockman, Of the hundreds of items I've posted here, this is the only time you have commented. If such rudeness and impertinence was the exception to a series of mostly constructive "evaluation," I would be able to assume you are having a "bad day." How could you possibly think anyone would't be "offended" by your remarks. I'd like to suggest that you not read anything more that I may post and that you keep your "opinions" to yourself. Yes, I am indeed offended. Elton
