The Book of Life
Whenever i hear someone say
The time has come for me to
turn over a leaf or page start
a fresh new dawn
Why will this time be any different
than the many page's i have turned cover to cover of War and Peace
which barely filled a single chapter
But luckily for me harsh experience and reality has taught me a coping
mechanism to shelter me from the endless disappointment throughout my my life thus far
I have learned to set the bar so low
as well as my expectations i am
never unduly surprised or ever
dissapointed at all
Anything else would be a breath
of fresh air and come as the most
pleasant of surprise
But as long as i am still drawing
breath i fear i will will not begin
holding my breath any time
soon
Because sadly i know not only
how this story begins but also
the ending that it lends
And it is one where neither of
the protagonist nor confident the
inevitable lesson dawn's upon
Until the very end and it's then
to late and that to me is this
When the opening line begins
with saying sorry and an apology
It will also end with the exact
same line's and word's being
used
As more often than not suprises
come with a nasty sting in their
tale in cold reality
Than the fairy-tail one's that
only seem to dawn and exist
in page's turned over in front
of a fireplace whilst reading
autumnal leafy book's
