The Blood of His Heart

Many years ago, someone I never met before
Did something that forever stuck in my mind
This man not only extended his hand but his arm
He did something so unselfish, so loving
So like a man, that I never forgot him or his action

He rolled up his sleeves and gave of himself
He knew my son was sick, needing a transfusion
And this man took it upon himself to just give
Give, he did, because of him, I still give to this day
I’ve been giving blood every chance that I can

Thirteen years since then and only now I find
I can do this man justice, by letting others know
Of what a man truly is…one who cares, one
Who despite any fear, does what he feels should be done
One who does so much and seeks no reward

Thank you, my friend, for you have changed the world
With your actions as I am now allowed to change it
Through mine, however mine are a direct result of yours
So, if you as one person never feel you can offer anything
That can change the world, bring happiness to others

Then give of yourself, roll up your sleeve
Give the blood of your heart, for when you do
Love doesn’t leave your heart, it multiplies
And is shared tenfold with the rest of the world
One man at a time, the world can become better
