The Bizarre Threshold
Through the bizarre threshold, I walk with wonder,
it’s cold and rainy with lightning and thunder-
Through the gate, I walk and wait,
it’s late at night, but this is my fate,
to enter a world with multiple roads,
for I am just a girl with a tragedy told.
Beneath the bridge just outside the portal,
I’ve become a wreck; a majestic immortal.
Freedom to choose has left and gone,
and the more I’m right the more I’m wrong.
I take a road leading to paths unknown,
and it brings me to my knees, for now I’m alone,
I’ve thrown out all pride and with faith I wait,
but I just can’t seem to find my way back to the gate.
I loudly think as I’m on the edge of a mount,
I blink on the brink of too many doorways to count.
My future is contingent upon my arrival,
and I’ve created an infringement for my bleak survival.
A road less traveled is a moment too soon,
as I follow the star under the twilit moon.
I’m forever lost and can’t find my way back,
to the threshold I long for and seamlessly lack.
There’s a crack on the cement beneath my feet,
as I walk towards the valley to stop and retreat.
I know not where the doorway is to the place I dwell,
and at that exact moment I found a wishing well.
A penny I threw and I instantly knew,
the paths to my home were scarce and few.
I decided to follow the muddy and dirty road,
for I am nothing but a girl with a tragedy told-
and I finally find my way back...
to that bizarre threshold.
