The Birth of Pegasus

The Birth of Pegasus No, they really didn’t mean anything by tying up a dancing, cavorting, prancing colt with a heavy halter - but God saw a use for spirit. I feel sure no one saw them sprout, just wings spread out over a garden, hovering. A vision for useful dreams. Suzanne Delaney

Suzanne, this is lovely really. The idea of wings metaphorically takes us to a special place. But I think you know that. I do wonder who thought up the idea of wings on a horse?

Hi Duke: Thanks for reading one of my earlier poems. I believe the archetype of Pegasus is deeply rooted in Greek Mythology and thus connected to poets through the Muses. Now I will go and read your first poem. I like that the earlier poems are not neglected. SuZ

Thanks James: It is nice to have someone check back to an older poem. So often it is only the most recent poem that gets addressed....unless they are entered in a Contest. I tweaked it a little bit and made gardens singular. I imagine this as a collage of Pegasus. Cheers, SuZ
