The Beginning of Goodbye
Genghis eats well, wants his treats and is drinking water
but he coughs a lot, a husky dry long coughing spell
The vet said he has heart failure, got pills for him
Another appointment in a month
When he coughs I hold him head up high and it seems to help
He seems frustrated when he wants to bark at Sassy and Kublia
for having too much fun and he ends up coughing
Ruins his little bossy image
Last night after he started coughing I picked up
the little fellow and placed him on my chest
he slept well.
I forget when he came to me, I think he's fourteen
I was hoping he could make sixteen healthy
I got Sassy cause I knew my boys time was not long
She will help the pain of losing one or both
Sassy is a ball of energy yet still shy
Kublia is my big cotton ball fuzzy wuzzy
who is really fuzzy and plump
Genghis is a special dog
One whose personality dominates
I never had anything ever love me as much is that little dog
and I love him too.
He is obsessed with me and does not want to share me
Always in the window watching for my return
Always welcoming me with cries of joy
standing on his hind legs with his front paws
spread to hug me
I spoiled him rotten and he spoiled me
I will miss him so
But I am grateful to have him for a little while longer
The beginning of goodbye
Genghis such a cute little long tail, long leg, big perky ears
long hair, cute snot black dog
with deep brown eyes and large black pupils
that see right through you
Who you barking at?
In heaven he will give the angels fits
I know he will be watching for me
Genghis my spoiled dog, heaven will love you.
