The battle within
I wish to speak His name, to feel the holy light,
But hesitation holds me fast in the middle of the night.
My heart is willing, reaching out, to ask for grace to stay,
Yet here I am, the broken one, who stumbles on the way.
The spirit yearns to soar above, to walk where He has trod,
But flesh is weak and burdened down, far from the side of God.
I look at all I want to be, then at the life I live,
And ask if He can love the broken parts I have to give.
But in the quiet, in the shame, a gentle voice I hear:
"The weak are welcome in my arms, I conquer all your fear."
But in the quiet, in the shame, a gentle voice I hear:
"The weak are welcome in my arms, I conquer all your fear."
The battle is not won by strength, nor by the righteous hand,
But by the heart that, weak and worn, still chooses to stand.
Jesus come to me in my weakness,
Stay with me Jesus, my friend, my father I never had.
Lord, I confess I can’t do thus alone, every hour I need You, my sin runs deep, your grace is more, where grace is, you are ever more, when I cannot stand, I will fall on You.
