The Barren Desert of My Life

I wander the desert alone with my thoughts as the sun beating down sssizzles my soul; I ponder the reflections of my barren life, and thirst for the knowledge of where I went wrong. The dreams I once held have all vanished with the dust, blown away to the four corners of the earth. And now I feel that I’m surrounded by jackals patiently waiting for me to give in; hungry to feast on the fruits of my life. Far in the distance I see a jack rabbit scampering forward to a lush oasis filed with the bountiful dreams of my youth. Wandering wearily toward the oasis of my dreams, I wonder if my life is just a mirage. And still the sun sssizzles my soul.

Ssssensational imagery - I wrote for this contest in my head, then read the description that requested imagery-emphasis, and poof - my head write is now head filed because like the desert, my imagery for it is barren. Not so you, John - you pulled it out and pulled it off beautifully. I am impressed and very much in like with your final product. As always, all the best ... CayCay

Thank you so much, CayCay, I had to chuckle at your comment. My mind has been a bit barren as of late too, but every once in a while a thought pops in and I have to write it down quickly before it too goes poof... P.S. I like your new pic...love your blue eyes! John

Visions are usually unclear, when wandering in the heat all alone- in dead moments that is the desert. You have expressed this emotion so well, my dear friend. I agree, the sun can be ssssizzzling at times. :) In moments such as this. Just saying. ~ Brandy
