The Barren Desert of My Life
I wander the desert alone with my thoughts
as the sun beating down sssizzles my soul;
I ponder the reflections of my barren life,
and thirst for the knowledge
of where I went wrong.
The dreams I once held have all vanished with the dust,
blown away to the four corners of the earth.
And now I feel that I’m surrounded by jackals
patiently waiting for me to give in;
hungry to feast on the fruits of my life.
Far in the distance I see a jack rabbit
scampering forward to a lush oasis
filed with the bountiful dreams of my youth.
Wandering wearily toward the oasis of my dreams,
I wonder if my life is just a mirage.
And still the sun sssizzles my soul.
