The Axe Forgets

Axe forgets and soon is forgiven,
We know, trees do not take up the gun,
But work hard sans sad grin
To keep planet’s plants green;
And sun sets for the day, its job done.
We humans... no sun are,
Nor are trees mean by far,
Alas, things revert back whence begun.

I came back to see when you got started here. Looks like two years ago! I really like the message in this little verse.

Thanks Andrea, I have more poems on Poem Hunter. Here is my revised version of the poem: Axe forgets, and soon is forgiven,/Trees, we know, take to no shooting gun,/They pardon human sin,/And keep the planet green—/Poor trees, thankless run a marathon/Like Sun that sets, job done,/Both run a thankless run./Man’s a far cry from Sun—never been,/Nor is he like trees that can’t be mean./Yet, both hope he will learn,/With that hope rises Sun,/Same hope lets trees grow green./ Though none may know how long,/Eternal, feels this song. It is awful that so many trees fall for humans... That we forget trees are living creatures. Beautiful poem.... Welcome to PoetrySoup
