Premiere Contest WinnerThe Avengers

The Marvel Universe is well loved by our dear Robert.
Heroes with great super powers, they
Emerged in 60’s comic books and are here to stay.

Ant-man, Iron man, the Wasp, Hulk, and Thor
Vanquished earth’s enemies. Then came more,
Expanding the roster of heroes, then going cinematic.
New ones appeared, with powers most dramatic.
Gone mostly are a few now from the MCU.
Evermore they live on in minds of their fans so true.
Robert has six omnibuses of them in his possession.
Six thousand pages he’ll read. That’s a big obsession!

One of the nicest Acrostics that I have read this style does not require a meter, but you gave it a fine one anyway enhancing the imagery Here is that out Quatern I told you about When I Look Upon the Roses When I look upon the roses I see a flower oh so fair But the stems I touch remind me That each their thorns they also share I see how love and pain collide When I look upon the roses With many colors that they wear All it's beauty it imposes To hide the pain that it does share It tries to cover up it's thorns When I look upon the roses I see a beauty that adorns Life is somewhat like this flower So full of love but also pain I think of how I'll handle each When I look upon the roses

You didn't just give him a contest poem; you gave Him a poem. You sound most knowledgeable throughout and a rhyming Acrostic sealed the effort as a winner. Congratulations, Andrea, you super writer.

Cute one! I once liked comic books, but they got me in trouble. I sent in my money for a life size Frankenstein and it was only a poster. I bought x-ray glasses, and couldn't see through clothes, and I bought seeds to sell which it said everyone will love to buy, but it was a hard sell. All that turned me against comics. I became so bitter I turned into a villain, and now, the Avengers are after me!

I agree, Andrea, that is a big obsession. He might have read each one when he bought it and has safely stored them because they are items that are supposed to appreciate in value. Sara K

Comics were a wonderful pastime, though sports outlived the genre, but the heroes they spawned survived.

Dear Andrea, I was obsessed with Comic books in the 60’s and 70’s. DC, Marvel, Classics, etc… I am convinced that I became a great reader especially out loud, and a writer of imagination attributed to those comics. Probably saved my life. lol! Loved sharing your nostalgia and I guess I am like Robert. Blessings, Daniel

This is an absolutely stunning acrostic which never meanders or strays from its theme. I was spellbound by your elegant writing to its very last word. An absolute winner, Andrea. Howard
