The Atheist

THE ATHEIST Some misguided man named Darwin Gained notariety with his theory of evolution The world foolishly agreed with him Thinkin he had found the solution To the existence of man on earth And as humans how we evolved His theory soon gave birth And the mystery of man was resolved But Darwin and all his followers Are oh so sadly wrong And one day they will discover Darwin's theory was a cymbal gong God, the Creator of all that is Made the heavens and the earth He, and only He, made man out of dust Adam was the beginning of man's birth Belief that God is a myth Will cause the believer great pain The flames in the pit of hellfire Will be their final gain So I say to the atheist Set Darwin's theory aside Put your belief in God's Only Son Because Charles Darwin lied 24 November 2018 For the contest sponsored by Anthony Slausen

Like St. Paul, I found God the hard way as a young man who did a very stupid thing c. 50 years ago. Suffice it to say I experienced the reality of my soul, an eternal consciousness, as well as both God's power and His grace. So in that spirit let me remind you Curtis, that Jesus himself made it clear that judgment is God's alone. Hell and heaven are real but nobody can be certain which world they'll go to next: that is the purpose of faith. Love thy neighbor means atheists as well, doesn't it?

Yes, L. J. , it definitely does mean love the neighbor and I apologize for any implication that I don't love atheists. I do, however believe they are sorely misled and in danger of hellfire unless the Bible is entirely wrong. I appreciate your response and thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas!

"Put your belief in God's Only Son" Very well said, expressed in faith. God be praised and thanked for your poem; and for you, too, for declaring your theistic belief in the Lord. God bless you.

Poetry soup says to only offer words of encouragement, I take that to mean, if you can’t say something nice or encouraging... say nothing. As a mistaken, hoodwinked idiot, I therefore say nothing.

Terry, you are a unique individual. Your openness and honesty are to be admired by anyone. Your wish to me to have a happy Christmas is accepted with pleasure and gratitude. I am truly pleased to make your acquaintance. By the way, the picture of your dog is beautiful. It reminds me of my dog, Amber, that I had when I was in the Air Force.

None of us will know the truth until we’ve breathed our last. Then, we’ll either know nothing at all or we’ll Know that we were right or wrong... either way, we won’t be able to advise mankind. So this debate will run and run. By the way... whilst I am 95% athiest and 5% agnostic, my values are Christian, so I feel no hypocrisy in wishing you a very happy Christmas.

I know where you are coming from (having been the daughter of my very religious mother), but I tend to be a bit more open minded. I know there is a God because creation itself is the proof, but at the same time, there is proof for Darwin's theory (or at least some of his "ideas") Who can really say how things evolved and maybe it was all part of God's plan.. . (at least certain aspects of it). Anyway, this is a very thoughtful poem sure to be a hit among stalwart christians! I admire your faith!

Bless you, Andrea, for your kindness and sincerity in this response. You are, and always have been, an inspiration to me over the years. I admire your gift of poetic excellence and your encouragement to me in shaping my career as a 'writer of rhymes' which has turned into a career of learning how to 'become a poet like you'! Merry Christmas, my dear friend and inspiration.

Curtis , some people believe in Darwin but in those last moments of life, I wonder who they call for? We must believe in some higher power or this world would be an empty and an dark void, I love your poem, well done ~

Constance, I am so pleased that you share my feelings. As I indicated in my response to Tom, Darwin had a brilliant mind. He just channeled it in what I consider the wrong direction. I'm honored that you 'love my poem'. Blessings on you!

Some of his theories' were full of holes and he put it down to the miraculous , what does that say, well written Curtis. Tom

I know I probably started a rumble with this, but although Darwin had a brilliant mind, he was sorely off track with most of his theories and led a lot of people astray. I am not totally correct in my assessment of his theories in my poem, but it gives food for thought.
