The Art of Words

I write to fulfill a need in me,
   it nurtures my spirit and soul.
The urge to share my innermost thoughts is strong-
   I will share a story with you in poetry,
will move you to tears with a sad memory,
   in a true story of my life-
I write poetry for the beauty and the power of words,
it is my letter to the world and journey-  But why
   would you read my poetry?
As the pages wash away my sadness and bitterness,
   perhaps you will see yourself in my poems
   perhaps my nature poetry will bring you peace-
But, first I write for me-  I pen the map of my life
   and if, even one person is moved by my words
   well, that means everything to me-
          for writing poetry is truly a noble art.
