The Art of Living-Take One
An empty stage,
An enticingly blank page.
The theater's house is full to the brim
The lights go up on stage, the house lights dim.
The actors take the stage, ready to do their part.
but they find they know not where to end, lest where to start.
The art of living is quite a mean quest,
instructions are incomplete and everything is a challenging test.
There are so many twists and turns before the story is done.
There are many battles to be fought that may or may not be won.
What is learned behind classroom doors he may never use
Life isn't theories, the results matter more than the formula you choose.
The pages are intentionally left blank for a reason
The script rewritten with each passing season.
The pen is poised, ready, newly-wet;
The character's lines, personalities, even the plot they will follow is not set.
Picture this in the mind,
Fast forward is permitted, but never rewind.
Action or inaction will fill the space.
From the wings emerging carefully, cautious, the now mask-less face...
Ready for the close-up ready to take his place.
