The Art of Gardening

There is an art to gardening 
and it begins with a plan
a plan written in a note book 
and created in my mind all winter long
with a vision of colorful flowers and greenery
swaying in the breeze
and bees and butterflies drifting
so, on a beautiful Spring day
in sundress, hat and gardening gloves
I gather all my tools and seeds and dreams
and start to dig and weed
but soon I need to take a break
and on the porch in the dappled sun
I am sipping lemonade
the plan forgotten . . .
