Wow - cops replace the 'street psychiatrists,' as they are 'beat psychiatrists.' (In the USA, a cop has a 'beat,' which means an area that he patrols, either by foot or in a vehicle or both). lol. Thanks, Elizabeth. :) gw

Oh thanks, Deb. Yeah, I keep seeing things I'd like to change but I lack the right toolkit. Frustrating!! Liz

Even Jack Kevorkian refused to take a life from one who wasn't terminally ill. However, I do see your point about having the freedom to take their own life. Robert

Whoa!! Sad that he wanted to end his life because one never knows if tomorrow will bring a change that can cure or relieve whatever was wrong with him. Enjoyed reading this informative post. Thanks for your visit. Sara

So good of you to comment, Sara. I think we need to discuss things like this. For me, it's not okay for an official to decide the manner of my demise! The argument I hear against choice is that someone may encourage an elderly relative to end his/her life in order to inherit the money. How sad. Elizabeth

I appreciate your comments, G. I'm not quite certain yet what I can verse about on P.S. before entering Jack Nicolson territory. Thanks E.

Yes, sometimes we have to make difficult choices. But when there is physical pain and a terminal illness, we would not let even a dog suffer that. Depression is a different matter. I sincerely hope your friend has been able to conquer her demons! Elizabeth

Year ago when my best friend was very depressed and called to say good-by I had to take her seriously and called for help as I was 2500 miles away. They took her for observation yet wanted to keep her because she had great insurance. I flew over and met up with another friend to get her released. She forgave both of us and barely remembered the incident. Her cry for help was heard. A great limerick to ponder. Blessings xxoo

I am pro-choice... so let him do it... Even though, is a permanent solution to a temporary problem...

My dear Elizabeth... Life is a game. ultimately, in the end, we all lose. Still, in this life, we choose the games we live to play... If someone wants to forfeit early that is his prerogative...

Thank you, Pashang! My life, my choice! But then you have to go it alone. A friend may dob you in, or be in danger of being charged himself if he does not report.

Thank you for your reply, Jennifer. I hope you are recuperating, maybe not even needing the walker! Often now there is so much red tape, the package itself is unusable! How can we access the benefits of society without losing sensitivity? Keep well. Elizabeth
