Sally, a great summary of the various levels of arguments. I like how you start with more gentle words...though this is all subject to interpretation. It's all good to consider and we can try to treat each other with empathy, kindness, and understanding that all lead to agreement and compromise! It would be great of more people would consider how to settle differences at kinder level of interaction.

Hello Sally, I do not like arguments. There were too many of them between my parents it was intense. An uncomfortable feeling. Anger would hang in the air for weeks. My husband died. We never argued. We talked it out. I prefer it that way. Hurt words are hurt feelings. Hugs. /Darlene/

Dear Sally, your golden pen captures the angst, destruction and regret harsh words can cause between people, especially those in close relationship with each other. The aftermath is never pretty until those involved can muster the want to listen and love enough to forgive. I adore your diamante of well chosen, emotional words. Warmest wishes my poet friend.. ~Susan

I think you summed it up quite nicely. In 30 years I can probably count on one hand the number of times my wife and I have argued. Peace is the goal
