The Appropriate Distance

the “appropriate” distance

one can never be far enough from heartbreak
**** those who say that walking back into the fire shows how much stronger you have grown---
just who are you trying to prove it to?
if walking back in the same vicinity as the fire,
near anyone who has ever hurt you, is something that you do not see as a
profitable experience for yourself (and ONLY yourself),
then why do it?
there is no distance between a person who has annihilated another emotionally &
their victim, which should be deemed
“appropriate,”
for as we are alive for a brief moment,
only a ****ing moron would want to relive
what almost did them in, the first time around,
with so many fish in the sea, blah blah blah blah---

what matters is keeping yourself sane,
what matters is keeping yourself from sticking their head on a ****ing stick
to leave in the center of town,
if in fact you were to get hurt again---
one should learn from putting that hand on the burner the first time,
so as to avoid it, so as to keep it from happening again,
as certainly these things keep us awake &
certainly they allow us to learn,
but to prevent oneself from doing so,
is an immeasurable form of lunacy
unique to any idiot who might enjoy the smell of their own skin burning
when they ignore all the signs &
walk straight into that fire once again.
