Notes About The Poem

Boredom as an underestimated stress on the human condition

The Agony of Standing Still

The ache of routine
blowing breaths of fire
stemming from agony
deep within

Better the terror
of excitement
just for the newness
than the sameness of days
repeating again and again

As travelers through
this life
we best not gather moss
or be entangled in webs
for some spiders' bite

The agony arises
from the realization
we may not even
taste very good
