The Aftermath
'The Aftermath'
Chiari Migraine hear my prayer
Thank God you're finally outta there
Morning bring me your reprise
As sunlight gently pricks worn eyes
The throb of aftershock is clear
Cruel after migraine drain is hear
Arms like lead and legs feel dead
Hands cold marble cradle head
Up at 12 back to bed by 5
Jeeze when will I ever feel alive?
Body battered aches like fire
Brain fog steals my words as tire
As muscle spasms fight the grind
Stretchy neck and brain combined
2 steps forward 5 steps back
As body toil's defence attack
Tried to be normal, have a life
Be worker, mother, even wife
As being upright hates my PoTS
So I exercise, drink water lots
Still weakened body fights itself
Determined to earn a life of wealth
Reality of days like these
Though they may take me to my knees
I soon get off the floor again
Dust me down put on my grin
As once the aftermath has gone
Next day will drag my swimmers on
Push my backside I must strive
As life's too short too just survive
Aftermath you teach me well
That better days my heart will swell
For I know the beauty of sunlight
As I have braved through darkest night
