My new walnut tree looks something like the one in this picture. I am so excited for the day it bears fruit. I adore roasting store bought walnuts in my oven and am looking forward to using my own home-grown walnuts one day (also in my favorite cookie recipes). The tree has come to be a symbol of new life for me.and the monoku occurred to me as I saw it outside my window today!

thanks, dear. I always felt monoku were like a long-line haiku, so to me it looks much better divided into its three lines.

Andrea, I do believe that it is true many of us on here is past fifty but of course life is nifty after fifty..Thanks for dropping by..I enjoyed reading your monoku and the thoughts behind its writing..My husband has planted walnut trees and olive trees which they both will take a long time to come into bearing much for our consumption..So hopes of living long enough to enjoy them..Sara

Beautiful Andrea :-) I often use nature as a "centering" for my spiritual sense of purpose, place and direction. It grounds me, silences the "noise", guiding one's inner voice of truth to be heard without distraction.(they are a nuisance for me..lol) Your poem really made me smile..it is nice to know someone else has a "tree" too :-) An inspiring, purpose filled poem, so lovely to read..A favourite to revisit as a reminder to self, a 7+..10+ if possible :-) blessings, lynn great picture :-)

thanks so much for realizing it was a metaphor. I changed the word worries for fears because it seemed to me that many people thought it was totally about the tree.

Wonderful, yes. It is a pleasure to see things grow. There are pests and microbes waiting to compete for the fruit, but walnuts may be resistant. I hope so!!!!
