That Night They Danced
She holds the blood from her mouth
She cries in tears that never save
Her body a punching bag of his
The normal day of her normal life
She holds the blood from her bleeding mouth
Another tooth knocked out
The very vow destroying
A curse of the words meant to be
Through the blood she remembers that night when they danced
The whole night it was, a year ago it was
Stricken and pale
She wipes the blood
Grabs the hidden ticket
Walks past his drunk body on the floor
and closes the door behind her
