That Light
It is like no other
It is harmony amidst
All dismay
It is peace amidst
All mayhem
For it is only here
That we stand
United,
Sister by sister
Shoulder by shoulder,
I don’t know you
You don’t know me
Yet tonight, like many
Other nights
In ultimate devotion
Together we shall stand
Together we shall kneel
Only this time with glory
And utter respect,
Our fervent whispers
Rising in the air
Our fingers avidly pointing
To the sky
Just one
For Allah is only one,
Breathing...
Teary-eyed…
Surrounded by a tranquility
That seeps deep into heart
And a voice that incites
Our musings…we listen,
We contemplate as it recites
As we all stare
Into that light
