That Kind of Day

That kind of day I should be outside in the sun
Enjoying the sweet scent of the flowers,
The brilliant rays of the warming sun on my face
Listening to the trills of the yellow meadowlarks,
And getting the sorely-needed exercise I deplore.
Such riches Mother Nature provides to explore,
Rediscovering the long-forgotten trail landmarks
Remembering fun I had with Queen Anne’s lace,
Dreaming of climbing high among ivory towers
Days long ago when almost everything was fun.

Gary Radice Date: 6/16/2021 1:44:00 AM Now then, this is a very interesting rhyme scheme. It's as if the rhymes are converging in on each other from either end. I just had to look it up: a decastich was the nearest I got but the syllables don't tally so I'm going to call this The Milton Rhyme Scheme and just say despite the air of poignancy and because of the air of poignancy in your poem, I absolutely loved it.
