That Kind of Day

That kind of day I should be outside in the sun Enjoying the sweet scent of the flowers, The brilliant rays of the warming sun on my face Listening to the trills of the yellow meadowlarks, And getting the sorely-needed exercise I deplore. Such riches Mother Nature provides to explore, Rediscovering the long-forgotten trail landmarks Remembering fun I had with Queen Anne’s lace, Dreaming of climbing high among ivory towers Days long ago when almost everything was fun. Gorgeous imagery; it is going to be over 100 degrees here for the next four days - in Kansas! What? I love being outside, but not from now until Sunday!

Just think about it. You have the perfect excuse to stay indoors, write, and paint your heart out.

Now then, this is a very interesting rhyme scheme. It's as if the rhymes are converging in on each other from either end. I just had to look it up: a decastich was the nearest I got but the syllables don't tally so I'm going to call this The Milton Rhyme Scheme and just say despite the air of poignancy and because of the air of poignancy in your poem, I absolutely loved it. Cheers - Gary PS: I'm impressed by your bio too! :)

Well, thank you, Gary. I don't know what provoked the rhyme scheme, it just seemed to work. l figured it was a common one, but I'll take the attribution, friend. Gary, I always enjoy your poetry and follow you every day. Thanks so much for your visit and your read. I really appreciate it. I need to look up "decastich," and I might try the Milton Rhyme Scheme again since it is novel!

Beautiful rendering of the outdoors' attractions on wonderful weather days, Milt.... Though the key lies in the fact that it's just no so much fun anymore to go exploring. Too many aches and pains involved. And it's too bad, but c'est la vie! ~ gw

Yep, unfortunately, that's the case. A walk in the woods for me can be treacherous. Thanks so much for the read.
