That Evening On the Pier

We had our last hurrah that evening on the pier. Some friends of mine brought beer while some brought wine. The vista was divine. The sun began to sink as shades of rosy pink streaked teal blue sky. We joked while getting high. Back then, we never knew our friendships, like that view, would fade away. . . Written 7/10/14 by Andrea Dietrich For the ON THE PIER Poetry Contest of nette oncluad

where was I this night. I would have brought the Bud to light, and I ain't talking Bud Light! Reads like a StUNNER a #1 Stunnuh. And to answer a question you asked a few days ago, I DO FEEL POETRY is DEFINITELY an ART!!!!!! Especially because no many properly appreciate it NOWADAYS. In due time, it will cycle back. That's why it is urgent for us to keep the flame lit, no matter what! You inspired me to write that last poem..."When No One Reads!"

How well you catch a moment. Having only just left a group of friends from one of life's stages, this is very poignant for me at present. A nice read.

Oh this poem brings back memories. Fresh from high school, I took off with my boyfriend for a summer on the gulf coast. The romance didn't last but memories of the sun dipping past the pier linger on.

Dear Andrea I like the misty feel of this poem. People drift out of your life sometimes. I have a couple of friends whom I looked for on the web with no success. "Not fade away" Peace & Love Matthew Anish
