Thanksgiving Prayer

Let my every thought be seasoned with thanksgiving, Let my every breath be scented with praise to you; Let my eyes be fixed on you, that my praying may never cease; You alone are worthy of all praise Let my every moment be an act of worship, Let my every deed be done to your glory, Lord Let my every word resound with the glorious things you’ve done; You alone are worthy of all praise Let my every day begin with adoration, Let my every night find rest in your presence, Lord; For without your rod and staff, we are sheep that have gone astray; You alone are worthy of all praise Every good and perfect gift is from you, Father, Every breath we take, a sign of your providence You created everything, by your will it was made to be; You alone are worthy of all praise

What a beautiful poem! Someone should set it to music so churches can sing it as a hymn.

Thank you for the suggestion, Jennifer, but it's already been set to music. Our church choir sang it one year at Thanksgiving. I appreciate your sweet comment!

It seems like a kyrielle, but without rhyme, so it's a kyrielle free verse. Also I see you got a first place. That is wonderful, John. I just submitted an angel poem previously N/A'd by someone. Crossing my fingers and toes.

It's actually lyrics to a song, but I know what you mean about the similarity to a kyrielle. The syllable counts (12/12/15/9) are consistent to match the music, but no rhymes. I've been working on arranging this for our choir to sing at Thanksgiving time, but not this year!

Amen to all, John. You know the reason behind a writing like this. As Bach used to write on all his manuscripts "Soli Deo Gloria" ... to God alone be the glory.
