I know it is very early, but some of my many holiday poems I want to post now.

Thankful

Thankful
Kevin Davis 2024

I am thankful for the many gifts this life brings— 
For happiness and love as we welcome a new year, 
For a life lived earnestly, with all its joys and trials, 
And for the good people who have blessed my days.

I am thankful for each day lived to its fullness, 
For the sky above and the vastness of the earth, 
For the beauty in each flower, petal, and leaf, 
And for the hope that humankind may find relief.

With the new year approaching, I am grateful. 
I look to our country—free, abundant, resilient. 
Yet this year feels different, shadowed by uncertainty; 
Still, I am grateful for any path that leads to peace.

Most of all, I am thankful for those I love, 
And for the mighty spirit watching over us. 
May you find all that your heart holds dear, 
And may gratitude guide you through the coming year.
