Thank You For the Memories

There are many ways to say thank you But the one that stands out most Is the one that comes from the heart So I thought it would be best to write You a poem of love, appreciation and thanks. When I was a child I could not comprehend love Love was just a word With little meaning I never understood it's purpose or value The more I searched The more complicated love became It's actions were confusing And my heart was always broken. Now that I have grown And travelled many roads I have come to recognize As well as understand. That love has many meanings And wears many faces But true love As funny as it seems never dies. I remember the day We first meet I remember the sound of your voice Your funny laughter. Your strong hands That kept me from harm Your swift feet that embraced my falls Your warm words that captured every smile. These are the treasured memories I have kept of you I know now that love once Had a hold on me. Thank you for loving me Memories like these My soul shall treasure.
