Notes About The Poem

This poem was written in 1978 for a very dear friend.

Thank You

How can I say it
Words alone can’t tell
How the friendship we’ve shared
Has been so swell.
You were always the one
I knew I could count on
The only one
I could really depend on.
Whenever I had a problem
You were there to talk it out
You brought me back to reality
And showed me what life was all about.
We’ve been through so much
That it’s hard to say
How special you are
In so many ways.
You were always the sister
I never had
You cheered me up
Whenever I was sad.
We’ve shared all our secrets
All our wildest dreams
You feel the way I feel
Even more it seems.
No one will ever come between us
Or keep us apart
For I love you too much
With all of my heart.
Remember all the letters
And the long talks we’ve shared
Every time you worried about me
Showed me that you cared.
Whenever I acted foolish
You would always set me straight
You helped me understand
That it was never too late.
I think about you all the time
And how much you mean to me
How grateful I am and how lucky I feel
To have a friend like thee.
I only hope I’m as good a friend
As you have been to me
The best and the greatest friends in the world
Forever we will be.
So, for your friendship and your love
Which both are so true
Just one more thing before I go
I’d like to say Thank You!
