Terror

Eternal sleep does not now assuage me, mistress, I dine on your living flesh, With no thought of saving, storing, salvaging The little evils you possess I dare you to try to live after I pronounce you dead! Terror, my swelling darling, has just begun Devour me, or let me devour you With no mercy I will chomp You allowed me upon your lap once more To take advantage of your vulnerable kindness To slurp the tears of your helplessness, With an ever opened eye You no longer gasp with surprise at my presence, And this challenges me, For now I rise, sevenfold in hatred, Daring your perfect fire to smolder my pride I will provoke you, Move you, mark you I will bring you down to ruin I will seed your need, your greed to die, Whilst I live on your final gasps of horror! Losing control, smiling on your rendered soul, I desire you warm when your heart stops For after you are gone, And your blood goes still and cold, The weeping of the multitudes will hold me in ecstasy The strong crowd of dark, heavy hearts will thump on And for whom? –YOU! So that I may taste you living again and again and again, In their new folds of despair You see, writhing lover of splendor, So quick to end it all… I have no excuse to die in relief as you so think you are heading Mortal fool, fear not NOW, For later your spirit shall retch in the aftermath of your cowardice! Arise my slave! Oh I dare you, become my master

Nice dark words, and images. I like the way you grind 'em down, just to make 'em rise again.

This poem fascinates me the more I study it, speak it, and surround myself in it my Gothic Princess. It conjures the fiery competition between two awesome egos, unafraid to claim love over the other...and then there is the voice of a heart's storm, it's jealous, aggressive, possessive darkness contrasting with the sunny sky of it's freedom, love and positive creativity. Your poetry puts my mind, and heart into these explorations Laura...J.A.B.

that sounds like the great deceiver....who influences death of self, don't be a griever....because if you let him guide your path....you deserve everything that will come with His Wrath....very profound and thought provoking laura....;)

This is beyond exceptional Laura, great use of imagery and personification. 7 and it would be higher if I could so choose.

Hey (: Thank you for such high praise, and I'm really glad you got to read it! It's one of those poems where I wonder, is this pure evil, or is there some underlying good that passes within these lines? There's got to be good, coming out from the bad. It makes sense. Thanks again for taking the time to read. ~Laura

Plus, can it get any worse than this? So, when chaos reigns and the evil ones try to exert their bad karma, I shall rise to the challenge and just do the best I can to remedy the situation (in part due to the inspiration of your poetry). No point getting upset at all. The bad stuff would like to lord over us. But it is so obviously bad, if we call it out on the carpet, I think I can beat it. I must praise you over and over! So praises to you, and good vibes too. Words matter.

Terror, in this setting, is admirably pushy to the one wishing to end it all. He wants us alive for his own greedy purposes. He is definitely linked to evil in this piece, however, his pushiness for his mistress to live on so that he may be mastered is a great boost of good (this he is unaware of). We either take it or leave it. We choose to live or die; good or evil.. And you're right, they are super wretched words coming from Terror, but perhaps they will provoke strength in the reader to live on, and not give up! Perhaps it will anger those that have weakened from their struggles to get back up and live. Your praises feel great. I hope you have a pleasant rest of the week, sweet poet!~Laura

Hi Laura, you are one of a kind! I couldn't sleep so I came here for a calming moment. Hey you kinda described my work situation precisely here. I think that you are the master over terror. No matter what life sends, you are at ease and will prevail. Your lines, as wretched as they are, have a certain level of familiarity and comfort with the bad machinations. So, since I have been in one of these bad situations, I shall think of this and your creations, and I think it makes me feel better.

You are never afraid to speak your mind when you read something that resonates with you, and that is something I really admire about you. You also have a great skill of reading between the lines, and coming up with very interesting conclusions, that both fit with the theme of the work, and have your own unique perspective all at the same time. It enhances the poem to receive your comments, making you one of a kind. Thank you so much! ~Laura

Hey Dan (: It's been a while my friend! Well, this poem, is not about my cat.. >> Er... it's Terror personified, if that makes sense. Terror's mistress is being challenged. : )~Laura
