Temptation strikes everybody. We are all subject to it. From our earliest age it begins. As little ones we really want THAT COOKIE. or OOOOO! LOOK AT THAT TOY! or WoW! LOOK AT THAT SHINY BIKE! And at school it's peer pressure. We really want friends and to be popular. Of course there are always those who are singled out as "different" or "unacceptable" Some people will Follow the leaders to avoid being treated that way themselves. But some can't be told who to befriend and so they are ostracized too. If you are wise you will be happy with one or two true friends and avoid the crowd. Then there is the temptation of booze, drugs, parties and "Good Times." Not really, that stuff is poison and literally ages you from the inside out. It also leads you down the road to perdition. You end up cheating on your spouse, getting into fights, getting addicted to booze or drugs or both, going way over your head in debt, losing your job, your friends you family, your whole reputation. Avoid Temptation. BE YOUR OWN PERSON.
The urge to go against the rules,
To do something you shouldn't,
To do it just because you can,
To prove you would or wouldn't.
Temptation comes in many forms,
Like anger, pride or shame.
It can be a simple longing,
Or a driving lust or pain.
Envy is another form,
In which it comes to you.
It also shows itself as Hate,
And greed is nothing new.
When we give in to such alure,
It kills our reputation;
And all are subject to it's lure,
Not just life's lower stations.
Kings and Queens have fallen,
Before such agitation.
It strikes us at our weakest point.
That's why it's called Temptation.
