Temptation

The poet's heart is whimsical at play
temptation, stolen gifts of thoughts away
a lover's smile creates an empty mind
today is but a yesterday unborn
but now with age has come
a focus drive
I did not give a thought to wasted days
I spoke with pride and wisdom, of my youth
the sword of my ambition knew no fear
but now with age and wisdom as my guide
I lack the gifts, my youthful self, let slide
