Tell the Monster

Tell the monster Tell the monster, you little coward That it mustn’t murder To show it eternally wretches and writhes To show your inner maggots that crave malcontent It mustn’t murder To bring down all with its own misery To give the world a taste of what they have inflicted On such a poor, abandoned soul Oh, deprived prey! You were born for this man’s selfish strategy Toward power and impertinence, To desecrate the human body in the name of science For one wretched worm’s pursuit of renown Oh, murderer, you have done your damage long ago The moment your pride turned to the innocent dead To rob their shells in search of gold Coward! Abandoner! Imbecile Tell the monster the truth That it murders to ravish your failures To make your innards whimper and quiver To sustain the guilt that has long eaten you Since the creation of your surfaced flaw Yes, in your arrogant aims, the murder of millions commence

I was hoping you'd read this one, as it's about Frankenstein's monster, and the monsters reflecting off the pain inflictors and power thirsters. Your Frankenstein was very powerful as well, and actually quite touching - not weak at all! ~Laura

Like the rest, I first thought of Hitler until I saw your reply to Duke's comment although it certainly could apply to today's monsters that infect the world (Dictators, ISIS etc.) You pull NO punches here...This hit me in the gut - Tim

Tim! (: Thanks for coming by. It's always a pleasure to receive your feedback. And yes, it definitely applies to anyone..even those who have murdered with their heart, have broken those for their own selfish aims.. It's gut-wrenching what one man is capable of when he puts his heart and mind to it. ~Laura

Oh my goodness...let's pretend I didn't hear that! ;) Believe it or not, I was inspired by the book Frankenstein, but beyond that, this poem is not only about the monster himself, but the one who made him to be the monster. The arrogant part may have been a little Trumpy I suppose, but I know you're just jiving.^_^ ~Laura

Your words impress by the passion that you put into them, Laura. A semi-abstract poem that provokes the mind. The subject of your 'tirade' writhes at your mercy. ~ Regards // paul

Thank you, Paul. I really liked how this turned out. I took a poetry class about a year ago just for fun, and it was probably the worst class I've ever taken. I felt absolutely belittled by the professor, and her comments often bordered on rude. One of her main complaints (among many) about my poetry was "it is just too abstract Laura. you need to be more clearer and more precise in your writing. There's too much going on here"-that was her notes for a poem I wrote called "One Little Butterfly"... I think since then I've become even more strange and abstract in my writing. Messing with the mind is part of the fun! Some people just don't understand, and I know you (and many others on here) do! ~Laura

Impassioned speech to the already wretched soul, Laura. Reminds me of the stories on Hitler and other infamous murderous dictators. Is this for a contest? All the best! hugs!

Nah, not for a contest, just for the hell of it. My mind was everywhere last night! Good to hear from you, Kim, and I hope you're doing well! ~Laura
