Tell It Like It Is

I usually shy away from volunteering unsought advice. With fear I'll be meddling, cautions me to think twice. For speaking without being asked, I'd pay the price of losing a friendship, if I need to be more precise. I always tell it like it is when my opinion is sought, but only after giving the issue some serious thought. Even if my heartfelt suggestions count for naught, I promise to extend the best counsel I can impart. All too often, it can be difficult to tell it like it is. To breakdown the factions of an essential analysis, by taking into consideration that it's akin to a quiz. With a wrong answer I'll hear, "It's none of your biz!" My goal is to help you by bringing darkness to light, but it won't deter me from being honest and forthright. Discord between friends should be a personal plight so, I won't criticize either side with words of spite. If you fear the advice I offer might lead to indigestion, don't solicit me for an opinion to a delicate question. A better solution would be to have a sit-down session and talk through problems, each making a concession. October 28, 2022

Always love it when people ask you for a straight answer, then totally lose the plot when you give it to them. Probably where that phrase comes from. (A friend in need is just a pest indeed.)

Ha. I pegged you for a straight shooter, and that's what you are. People who wear a mask as a facade, liars and hypocrites are bottom feeders to me. Nice to meet you, Paul, and thanks for reading me and leaving your comments.

Differences are dynamic and encouraged, for that is the way to understanding. I've always said do't ask the question if you do't want to hear the answer. Nice write Jenna! Linda

Sadly there are some who think their views are set in stone and are never willing to compromise. If I know someone is wrong I use a bit of tact. If they still don't agree then I just walk away. Enjoy your weekend Jenna. Tom

Tact is the initial way to go, after that, I agree with you... walk away unless they follow. Then it's time for plan B. lol Thanks, Tom.

I believe in always being straight forward. If I'm asked for my opinion, I give it...take it or leave it. I try not to nose in where my advice or my counsel is not wanted. In those cases, I just shake my head and move along. Good poem, Jenna.

Truthfulness and honesty are fine qualities. I know you have them because they're part of your character. Thank you, Milt.

Hi H. I'm giving advice, so I'm counseling. A council would be a meeting. Also, I'm offering (imparting) advice, not trying to shape it, so wrought is not what I wanted to use. I appreciate your reading and commenting. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Pragmatism personified Jenna, if asking difficult questions, we might not always like the answers we get, but in poetry if we put out there controversial opinions, we can expect many non sugar coated opposing views, dialogue is good, intransigence perhaps not, quid pro quo’s the way to go, love the picture and quote, cheers David
