"tell-Tale Dream"
Hot like fire, bright as the sun
He walked until the day was done
On twilights door he did beset
He lay inside a cave to rest
The wind whispered a cold hello
as the breeze carried its freezing below
uncovered is he that sleeps alone
and speaks to old decaying bones
The morning sun is burning red
as he lay half-naked and half-dead
can now he barely raise his head
as vultures stare at their evening bread
He falls into a pit and sees
a serpent twice as long as he
coiling up and ready to spring
He passes out and upon recovering
Awakens from a tell-tale dream
A cap forced upon his shaven head
his arms tightly strapped to a chair of lead
wishing he were still half-dead
"I'm innocent!" is all he said.
