Teddy is Jeremy

Why does a grown man have a teddy bear? Is a piece of fluff a valuable memory? It was an overcoat back then, a seamstress worked so hard, cut it up, shaped it, stuffed it, and turned it into a teddy bear. Yes, stuff that was fluff and yet we give a toy a name and talk to it, say good morning or "Hi, Jeremy, my old mucker, my old mate!" So why would you talk to a toy that has a head but not to one that has none? (5 Oct 2023)

Nice twist at the end, Andrew. Good question. You're helping with my brain aerobics, my friend. Have a great weekend! Bill

It touches on deep (atavistic) sympathetic magic doesn't it? Oddly enough even my little pug can recognize a stick figure drawn dog on TV - just the barest of elements needed to assign identity/meaning. Btw, I kept my old "Brown Bear" given to me at birth and eventually passed him (venerable and worn) along to my grown daughter, who now keeps him in a place of honor on a shelf.

Yes, I didn't wish to part with the (artificial) fur but had become fed up of the coat, so that's why it became a bear, and he's been in my home for decades. Wow!
