Tears On My Pillow
Tears on my pillow
I woke up crying, tears on my pillow.
Mother Nature followed me.
With rain on fallen leaves.
Maybe, I could cry a million tears.
Maybe, I already have.
But I will thank you for these tears.
You allowed me to have my feelings
When I was just a young child.
Before they stole me and turned off the light.
Forcing me to be someone else.
I screamed in the night.
For you, for her, I flailed, I fought.
Then suddenly,
I pretended to be that someone else.
I tried everything I could.
Until the day my life became my own.
Now I wipe these tears with a smile that is real.
I wrap your blessing forever to keep.
Knowing I am happy, just the way I am.
