Tears of Love
There is deep beauty in a New Year’s day,
Though the skies drift gray this day
Behind them rings the revelry,
The hope, the joy, the bravery.
That bravery instilled as morning dawns
And the night ago is remembered,
Will life truly be different now? and then
Will life change after December?
One day on one will fill the heart
Resolutions of good intent wax and wane,
Lovely music will begin its classic journey,
And diets and food fads rise to fame.
Tunnel cars may be improved,
And Branson may take a crew to space,
Politicians will roar and rise and fall,
Russians and Chinese will save some face.
But what is the real, the real river flowing,
Is the color of love in the sky?
Or are we drowning in human unknowing,
While tears of love are running dry.
