Tearful

Written: March 07, 2024 For Constance La France Contest Quote by Rumi "You left and I cried tears of blood. My sorrow grows. It's not just that You left. But when You left my eyes went with You. Now, how will I cry?
_____________________________________
If you shed tears as the sun leaves your world, You can't view the stars with your tears unfurled. When my coffin is taken away on my funeral day, Please don't believe I'm missing this life display.  Abstain from voicing sorrow, crying, or sadness, I won't plummet into the black demon madness. Retain quiet when you view men dragging my body, I am not soaring; rather, as endless love I embody. Never bid me adieu as you bury me in the tomb, Bear that a tomb is purely a veil of heaven womb. You will merely behold my slide into the grave, Watch my rise along with the sun or moon rave. Though it appears to be sunset, it is daybreak, If a tomb locks you in, your soul is free to partake. Ever seen a pail thrown into a well, come out bare? Why weep for a soul, as Joseph at the well compare?

Gosh dear Sotto, this beautifully written poem really grabs you. The opening couplet is profound, magnificent, as is the rest that follows. It’s a very reflective, thoughtful read ,’ Bear that a tomb is purely a veil of heaven womb’ ‘ Watch my rise along with the sun or moon rave’ - so profound, so well expressed. You have conveyed so much here. An emotional read and as ever, I’m in awe of your remarkable talent. Blessings to you.

Wow! This poem explores death and our ideas of the aftermath in a very unique manner. We often view it as a loss or an end when as you point out it is a beginning! “ You will merely behold my slide into the grave, Watch my rise along with the sun or moon rave. Though it appears to be sunset, it is daybreak, If a tomb locks you in, your soul is free to partake.” This is a wonderful interesting exploration of death and perception perceived of!

SP, you express a lot of wisdom within this opus. How do we deal with our friends and loved ones departing? I have often wished that there will be a party when I depart. Not because I was bad, but because those left behind would know that life is still worth celebrating.

The tomb is the body's resting place, and the spirit is set free immediately though. I like this one that you have penned. We all grieve when a loved one dies, but we know that they that believe are in a richer place than this earth and they wait for us there. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K

Such a sensitive poem this one is; one that addresses the unnecessary need for sgrief that embrace folks at the time when a loved one is buried. I feel it's a time of rejoicing--the joy you captured so eloquently within your couplets. I especially liked these line: Never bid me adieu as you bury me in the tomb, Bear that a tomb is purely a veil of heaven womb. A touching, well written poem for the contest. Best wishes with the contest & have a splendid weekend ahead, your poetess friend, Sara
