Teacher's Pet

I love to hear him laugh - this student not exceptional, but looking like a sweet young *Paul Simon. Maybe it's the way he laughs like me. . . heartily, or maybe it is just because his laughter reassures me I'm still funny. * Paul Simon was part of a folk rock duo most popular in the 60's.

Hey! These kids'll keep a teacher young. If the kids like you - WOW! This is a real gift. Per usual, you have a compelling way with words. Love, daver And thanks for looking down the list.

Aha! That last line has the winning edge of sharp dialogue and revealing to boot. Good ending! So, you are the winner again, eh!? But I am not surprised. You poems are of consistently high quality! Happy Easter! Gerard.

I made the wrong comment. Someone else had commented on that. Nathan just picked the winners for the 9/ll contest from last year. I came in third. You have to go back to 2009 to find it. Teachers have the right to have their pets, as long as no one else knows. Love, Joyce

You're right, in US Gert is a short form of Gertrud, but in German it is a man's name. If it is spelles Gerd, it is a short form of Gerhard but with t it is no short form but a complete first name. My middle name is Wilhelm (=William). In Chile they called me Gerardo. You must really be a funny person! I am also good for jokes!...Love, Gert
