Tarnished Dreams

It's just a simple dream
 hazed by brilliant sunlight
 tarnished by my wayward schemes,
hidden in the dusty cobwebs that form
 in the shade of procrastination
 where time waits for no one;
one day, I'll take them out again
 clinging to their easily forgotten efforts
 to polish and reflect in a brighter light
the wonder of what could have been
 had they been achieved.

DM, I like this patina'd poem. It has Robert Burns' 'Best laid plans of mice and men' feeling. Unrealized dreams prove the resilient spirit and mettle that we're made of. I hope your week-end is kind to you. -Richard

Life is full of these things that we keep hidden away but can never totally forget. Wonderfully expressed.

Those 'dusty cobwebs' have formed in my subconscious as well. Evocatively penned, my friend. :) gw
