Talk

Talk to me when you want,
not because you’re bored.
Spend time with me like you mean it,
not because you have to.
Love me because you do,
not for fun.
Hold me like a lifeline,
not a plaything.
All I’ve ever wanted from you
is love—
not because you have to,
not because you’re bored,
but because you actually need me.
Because I am a person,
not a toy.
And I won’t be here forever,
so don’t ignore my voice.
I reach out because I need you,
not because I want you.
So please listen to me
when I speak in rhythm.
I promise
it will be worth your time.
Because I will be your lifeline
in times of need.
I won’t miss a call.
I won’t flee in time of need.
Because I need you
like you need me
