Tale of the Trickster: Part Iii

Before the boy, a sprouting and shimmering glow,
swirling and swishing beneath the river flow.
Startled was he, a heart beat quickens,
the hair on his neck rises and thickens.
Curiosity and fear were in conflict this minute,
for time had frozen, a moment infinite.
Should he run or should he stay?
Should he investigate this shimmering sway?
Mind made up, a footstep taken
In that very moment, the shimmering would awaken.
Out from the ripples, a creature would dive
Quicker than a second, the boy couldn't contrive.
Tackled by brightness, yet something quite light,
The boy opens his eyes upon a magnificent sight.
Not a monster, but an animal so small,
Not vicious and scary, an apparent enthral
Eyes glowing azure and feathers of pure white snow.
Yet reptilian was it's tail, upon it's feet scales would grow.
Docile was this creature that fell from the sky,
But where did it come from beyond the stars with spry?
The boy knew little, but towards home he'd take
his newfound treasure, the little bird-drake.
